I would like to say thank you to the Rose Cottage volunteers. The experience for my husband was great. Whether it be walks, chess or talking about whatever, he felt great when his volunteer shared time each week.To anyone struggling with a need for some companionship, please give Rose Cottage a call…you will not be disappointed!

Thank you for all you did to provide comfort, joy, companionship, assistance, peace and dignity to my dad in his last journey in life. Thank you for providing a few hours every week for me to have a somewhat normal life. You are always gracious and accommodating.

Dear Staff and Volunteers of Rose Cottage, Thank you so much for your compassionate and loving presence with my mother, Evelyn during her passing. My sister, Christine, was deeply touched by your careful and gentle approach. Your organization is a blessing to us and others in our community of Grimsby and area. Thank you so much. Sincerely, Patricia

When I first contacted Rose Cottage to inquire about caregiver supports for my mother, I was overwhelmed with the professionalism. Initially, we met to determine my mother’s needs which they carefully assessed. It was most important for them to find a qualified volunteer match, and they certainly did! Even after my mother’s passing, Rose Cottage kept in touch; offering condolences and continued support. What a wonderful palliative care program, which I highly recommend, and am truly thankful for.

I have recently began volunteering with Rose Cottage. I participate in the visiting volunteer program. I visit with two clients in their homes. I almost feel like I benefit just as much from the visits as my clients do. My favourite thing about volunteering is seeing how my clients light up throughout our visit. We have good days and bad days, but it means the world to me to be able to support my clients and their families. Not every visit is easy as it can be difficult to support someone with a palliative or life limiting illness, however each visit is a fulfilling gift. Through the visiting volunteers program, I have built significant and lasting relationships with my clients. I look forward to continue visiting with my clients and to meet more people to see where this journey takes me.
