Our Programs

In response to the isolation due to lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic, care packages are distributed to clients and caregivers by volunteers.

The essential care packages contain soup, bread, activity books, essential items and community information. On special occasion months, packages also include themed gifts that have been donated by community partners.

Volunteers carry out a wellness check at the time of delivery to ensure timely additional support is introduced as needed.

Are you a caregiver that is in need of support?

We offer telephone caregiver support, and also group support virtually through Zoom. Contact us to learn how we can support you in your caregiving role.

Visiting Volunteers provide one on one support and companionship in the community, to our clients of varying age, who live with a life limiting illness.

Our volunteers are fully screened, and accordingly receive online hospice and palliative care training through HPCO. Once trained and certified, our volunteers are then matched up with a client and are ready to visit clients in their homes; whether that be their house, a hospital, or a care facility.

The amount of time dedicated to clients is totally up to the volunteer, and we are able to work with a volunteer’s availability and schedule.

The Tele-Visit program is designed to deliver support for clients living in rural areas or in a care facility during outbreak. The program was created to provide clients with psycho social and emotional support from HPCO certified volunteers over the telephone, and aims to help improve their quality of life and mental well-being.

We use conversation style questions in our Legacy program to help you remember, and document those special memories for your family. You choose the memories you want to reflect upon to create your legacy.

Working together with one of our legacy volunteers, your story will be documented safely and securely, keeping personal information confidential. The only cost to you is the time you dedicate in compiling your story.

At the completion of our Legacy program you will receive a free black and white copy of your Legacy book consisting of the stories you have shared, and approximately 20 of your favourite photos. Additional copies (colour copies available) can be purchased.
